December is nearly behind us, which means that winter is here! With the changing weather this week and knowing that snow is likely soon, it is a good time for a reminder about winter safety for kids.
Here are a few safety reminders from the American Academy of Pediatrics:
-Dress older infants and younger children in one more layer of clothing than an adult is wearing in the same conditions.
– When it comes to car seats and children riding in the car, bulky clothing (such as heavy coats and snowsuits) should not be worn under the harness. Instead you may use a coat or blanket over the harness or seatbelt to keep the child warm.
– Ensure your children are properly washing their hands and washing them often to help prevent cold and flu.
-Use a cold air humidifier in your child’s room at night if they suffer from winter nosebleeds.
