The “Roll and Read” event sponsored by Ringgold County Parents as Teachers was held September 18 at 5:30 PM at the shelter house in the courthouse yard in Mt. Ayr. Eight families with a total of 14 children participated in the event. The group logged a mile by walking or riding in strollers or wagons five laps around the courthouse square.
Breaks were taken every few laps to listen to stories read by volunteer readers Abbey Adams, Jennifer Kellner and Kate Zimmerman. Zimmerman brought several items to go along with her story, including ducks, a turkey feather, a turtle shell and three monarch butterflies to release. Each family selected a free book to take home with them.
